The post office is holding their annual "Stamp Out Hunger" event where people leave canned/boxed food by their mailbox for pickup.  The food is taken to the Salvation Army where "SORTERS" are needed to take the food and box it up in specific categories and put it on pallets.  This will involve walking and carrying grocerybag-size bags.
Come at 4 pm for training (very simple) and then stay as long as you can, even if it's just an hour.  Kids are welcome to help if they can read well and follow directions.  (No running around, though!  There will be a lot of mail trucks coming and going!)
This is a great way to bless the Salvation Army in their ministry to low income families of Petaluma!
